ILOILO CITY, Feb. 24 (PIA) --- The Iloilo City Government has sought the support of different sectors in this city to help in the campaign on the vaccination program against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Trenas said that he has conducted various sectoral meetings with the media, bloggers, fisherfolk, market vendors, suppliers of fireworks, school principals, transport leaders, and urban poor cooperatives, among others.

"I met with the different sectors in the city to inform them of the current status of our COVID-19 vaccine and asked for their help to spread awareness of its importance," he said.

He also appealed support from these sectors pertaining to the COVID-19 immunization so the city can finally revive its economy.

"The AstraZeneca vaccines' efficacy rate is 62 to 91%, which is free for everyone living and working in the city," he said.

It can be recalled that Trenas signed a multilateral agreement, on behalf of the Iloilo City Government, for the purchase of AstraZeneca vaccines, along with the national government and AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Philippines, Inc.

In the agreement, the city government here will purchase 600,000 doses for a total purchase price of US$3,000,000. (JSC/LTP/PIA6 Iloilo)
