MEXICO CITY -- Mexico may start COVID-19 vaccinations in December if regulatory institutions certify the effectiveness of the drugs, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said on Tuesday.

UNITED NATIONS -- The United Nations (UN) has been given the go-ahead to inspect and make emergency repairs on the derelict oil tanker Safer, an environmental threat off the west coast of Yemen, a UN spokesman said on Tuesday.

BRUSSELS -- The European Union (EU) will give the green light to a new vaccine contract in its bid to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday.

DAMASCUS -- An Israeli missile attack hit military sites in the southern countryside of the capital Damascus on Tuesday night, causing damage only, state news agency SANA reported.
